Shirley Raines, the founder and CEO of the nonprofit ‘Beauty 2 The Streetz’ and widely known online as Ms. Shirley, has died at the age of 58.

Raines, who built a massive following through videos documenting her efforts to help unhoused communities, was found dead Tuesday night in her Henderson, Nevada home following a wellness check, according to TMZ.

Her twin sister, Sheila, told the outlet that Raines was discovered unresponsive next to her bed. Sheila said she had been healthy and was not taking medication, adding that the family is waiting for autopsy results and that no foul play is suspected.

Beauty 2 The Streetz, which has amassed 1.1 million followers on Instagram and 5.7M on TikTok, confirmed the news in a statement shared on both platforms.

“It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that Beauty 2 The Streetz announces the passing of our beloved CEO and founder, Shirley Raines, affectionately known to so many as Ms. Shirley.”

The organization continued: “Ms. Shirley dedicated her life to serving others and made an immeasurable impact on homeless communities throughout Los Angeles and Nevada. Through her tireless advocacy, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment, she used her powerful media platform to amplify the voices of those in need and to bring dignity, resources, and hope to some of the most underserved populations.”

Beauty 2 The Streetz operates as a nonprofit providing beauty and hygiene services to people living in the Skid Row area of Downtown Los Angeles.

“This loss is devastating to the entire Beauty 2 The Streetz team, the communities we serve, and the countless individuals whose lives were forever changed by Ms. Shirley’s love, generosity, and selfless service,” the statement added. “Her legacy will continue to live on through the work she started and the hearts she touched.”

Raines’ work also earned national recognition. She was named CNN’s 2021 Hero of the Year and later received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Social Media Personality in 2025.

Just two days before her death, Raines was filmed handing out supplies to people from her car, a routine she became widely known for through her social media posts spotlighting street outreach efforts across Los Angeles and Nevada.
