- U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar was sprayed with a substance by a man while speaking at a town hall
- Anthony Kazmierczak is charged with third-degree assault in connection with the incident
- According to CNN, Kazmierczak's Facebook profile contained pictures of President Donald Trump
The man accused of rushing Rep. Ilhan Omar and spraying a liquid on her reportedly once changed his Facebook profile picture to one of President Donald Trump.
Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, is being held in Hennepin County, Minn., jail on a charge of third-degree assault after allegedly attacking Omar, who was holding a town hall in Minneapolis. He is being held without bail.
Video of the incident shown on C-SPAN appears to show a man, whom police later identified as Kazmierczak, jump up and run toward Omar and spray her shirt with a syringe containing an unknown but foul-smelling substance.
In her speech, Omar had called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the wake of the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed by federal law enforcement officers in Minneapolis.
CNN reported that a Facebook profile appearing to belong to Kazmierczak contains several political posts.
In 2021, per CNN, Kazmierczak shared a post criticizing Omar. More recently, he reportedly changed his profile picture to a photo of Trump speaking and then again changed it to one of Trump and Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
CNN further reported that Kazmierczak's profile showed that he is the father of two daughters, describing himself as an "empty nester."
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office released a mugshot of Kazmierczak, showing a bearded man with brown hair, closely resembling the man seen in the video spraying the substance on Omar.

After rushing toward Omar, the man was quickly grabbed by security personnel and tackled before being removed from the building.
"He sprayed something," someone can be heard saying the video.
Omar subsequently asked to continue the event, despite her staff advising her to get checked out.
“Just give me 10 minutes. I beg you," she said in the video. "Please don’t let them have the show."
