Roblox collectors are voicing concerns after Roblox confirmed it will permanently remove Classic Faces and Heads, replacing them with animated Dynamic Heads as part of a platform-wide avatar overhaul.
The change was highlighted this week after Roblox-focused creator Lukas shared a screenshot from a Developer Forum announcement dated January 27, 2026, confirming that all remaining classic avatar items will be converted and removed from the Marketplace by February.
According to the announcement, every Classic Head and Face combination will be replaced with a corresponding Dynamic Head, after which the Classic Faces and Classic Heads categories will be removed entirely. Once the conversion happens, users will no longer retain the original static items in their inventories.
Roblox will be fully REPLACING classic faces and making them dynamic. 🤦‍♂️

Classic Heads & Faces to be replaced in Roblox
The update has sparked widespread concern among traders and creators who invested heavily in classic cosmetics. Roblox streamer WaffleTrades said he has more than one million Robux invested in classic faces, estimating the value at roughly $3,800 USD, and fears the items will be changed without compensation.
“These items will be changed without any compensation or exceptions from Roblox,” WaffleTrades wrote, alongside a screenshot showing one of his limited classic face listings.
Roblox has previously attempted to transition users toward Dynamic Heads in stages, but the January announcement signals a full unification of the avatar system. The policy states that Dynamic Heads are required to allow facial expressions and animations, which classic 2D faces cannot support.
In addition to official Roblox items, community-created heads are also affected. The Developer Forum post warns that if creators do not update their custom heads to meet new 3D and animation requirements by June 15, 2026, those items may be deleted from user inventories entirely.
While Roblox says it has addressed performance concerns, price discrepancies, and animation parity during the transition, the announcement does not mention refunds, compensation, or opt-out options for users who originally purchased classic cosmetics.
The change effectively marks the end of static 2D faces on Roblox, a staple of the platform’s identity for more than a decade.
