Story Kitchen, the production company behind a growing slate of video game adaptations for film and television, is in early development on a Steal a Brainrot movie alongside the creators of the hit Roblox experience.
The project follows the rapid rise of Steal a Brainrot, which launched in May and quickly became one of the platform’s most visited games. Players attempt to buy, collect, and steal meme-inspired “brainrots” to grow their collections before rebirthing to pursue higher multipliers and rarer drops.
According to figures shared by the studio, the game has surpassed 55 billion visits and recorded an all-time peak of 25.8 million concurrent players in October 2025. Its influence has also extended beyond Roblox, including a real-world concert event this past weekend featuring Bruno Mars.
How the Steal a Brainrot movie is taking shape
Deadline reports that the film is set to translate the game’s competitive structure and chaotic tone to the big screen, placing audiences inside a world where every heist can change a run, and every rival is positioned to strike back.
Story Kitchen is developing and producing the project with Do Big Studios and Spyder Games. The production team includes Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Elena Sandoval, with Think Influence producing in association while representing the creators of Steal a Brainrot.
In a joint statement, Story Kitchen co-founders Johnson and Goldberg said they’re excited to bring the game to the big screen.
The Steal a Brainrot project joins a lengthy list of adaptations currently in development at Story Kitchen.
Since launching in 2022, the company has overseen screen versions of several major franchises, including Tomb Raider for Amazon MGM and Netflix, Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM, Teddy Ruxpin for Amazon MGM, and Just Cause for Universal.
Its upcoming slate also includes a movie for rival Roblox hit Grow A Garden, Streets of Rage for Lionsgate, Shinobi for Universal, and Toejam & Earl for Amazon MGM, along with indie titles such as Split Fiction, It Takes Two, Sifu, and Ruiner.
