Jon Gosselin Reveals SCARY Life-Threatening Diagnosis!

Jon Gosselin is opening up about a health scare he had before his wedding — and he says it could’ve killed him!

In case you didn’t know, the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star got married to his girlfriend Stephanie Lebo in November 2025. Just weeks before the big wedding, though, he suffered a health issue that almost put everything on pause. While speaking to DailyMail.com at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend (he’s got a good DJ gig there), he gave more details as to what actually happened.

The father of eight recalled he was getting last-minute wedding preparations ready when he felt a “grueling pain” in his leg. He said the next morning the pain had moved to his shoulder, then he woke up in a coughing fit:

“I was like, ‘Something is wrong.’ I coughed up what looked like silly putty – it was a blood clot.”

He said he didn’t want to bother any of the rest of his fam, so he made “the biggest no-no” decision to drive himself to the hospital:

“If you have deep-vein thrombosis you could die at the wheel.”

At the hospital, they gave him an MRI and ended up diagnosing him with two bilateral pulmonary embolisms. According to the Mayo Clinic, a bilateral pulmonary embolism is “a serious, life-threatening medical emergency where blood clots block arteries in both lungs, often originating from deep vein thrombosis in the legs”. Scary!

Jon continued, saying his then-fiancée Stephanie was “scared to death” as his kids Colin and Hannah were “freaked out”. We can imagine!

Thankfully, the reality TV star says his condition is able to be controlled with medication:

“I’m on heart meds, blood pressure meds, aspirin, and then I take Eliquis. It’s a drug that prevents blood clots.”

Still, looking back, he’s terrified at what could’ve happened had he not done the right thing at the right time:

“I definitely could have died. If I had just stayed home that night, I could have had a real pulmonary embolism and just died.”

Wild!
