Japan has a bar for people thinking of quitting their jobs & drinks are free

There’s a new bar in Japan where guests can discuss their careers and ask for advice for free.

It’s hard to imagine Japan without all the interesting bars you can visit. There have been plenty of cool concepts, whether that’s a TCG Bar, an Axe Throwing Bar, or many of the other wild ideas we’ve seen.

Earlier this month, a new concept called Tenshoku Sodan Bar opened, adding something entirely different to the list.

Also known as the ‘Job-changing Consultation bar’, this isn’t just a usual bar where you can order a drink to unwind after work. Rather, it offers free consultations and drinks for employees seeking career advice.

In this unique setting, guests can casually talk about their professional anxieties that are often difficult to discuss in formal situations.

There’s a bar offering career advice to worried employees

Many full-time workers can end up in a situation where they have worries about their career, but don’t have anyone to talk to. It can also be challenging to find the right advice from friends and family. And that’s where the bar comes in.

In Tenshoku Sodan Bar, it’s all about offering an alternative without pressure, letting guests discuss their careers in a “conversational” way.

There’s no need to wear a suit or bring a resume, and the conversations take place in private rooms, where guests can talk openly to the bartender while having a drink.

According to their official website, the bartenders aren’t just regular staff; they’re actually industry professionals with real experience.

It’s also revealed that around 60% of customers who come for consultation aren’t at the stage of making a clear decision, such as quitting or changing jobs. Instead, many simply want help organizing their thoughts and understanding their situation.

“It’s not that I dislike my current job, but I don’t know if I should continue like this,” is one example of a comment shared during consultations.

The consultation and drinks are all free, but if you’re interested in going, you do need to make a reservation through LINE first.
