Incredible “bed cinema” in Thailand comes with unlimited food and more

An ‘bed cinema’ in Thailand is going viral for trading out theater seats in favor of two to four-person beds, as well as offering a lounge full of snacks and drinks for free.

It’s no secret that going to the movies has become a pretty pricey experience these days. The cost of movie tickets, plus popcorn, candy and soda can run just two people well over $50.

One theater in Thailand is helping moviegoers get more bang for their buck by turning a normal night at the cinema into a truly cozy viewing experience that’s going viral for how unusual it is.

Thailand theater trades reclining seats for massage beds

‘The Bed Cinema’ is a massive theater located in Bangkok, Thailand, that has partnered with Omazz, a mattress and bedding company known for its eco-friendly, hypoallergenic mattresses.

For the cost of $36 USD, viewers can reserve a bed made with an Omazz mattress to lounge on while they watch a film at this cinema. While that might seem like a steep price for a single movie ticket, it comes with some pretty substantial perks that could justify the price.

The main benefit of getting a ticket at The Bed Cinema is the unlimited access to its lounge, which comes chock full of complimentary snacks and beverages. You can exit the theater to grab more refreshments at any time during the show, which include several flavors of popcorn, refrigerated and hot beverages, dried fruits, and more.

The beds, which can fit from two to four people, even come with charging ports to power up your mobile devices, along with slippers, fluffy pillows, and a remote control to operate a massage mechanism built within the mattress.

Social media has had mixed reactions to The Bed Cinema; some users are jealous that this theater requires a trip to Thailand, while others are completely put off by the potential for germs or bedbugs that could be hiding in the sheets.

“Americans could never be trusted with this in the States,” one user joked on Instagram.

“Cool, but the minute I see a teenage couple sit in the bed next to me, I’M OUT,” another wrote.

“A bed bug designed this theater,” one viewer said, while another claimed they would “instantly fall asleep” in this theater.

This is the latest theater to go viral after Texas-based cinema chain The Alamo Drafthouse drew scrutiny for allowing the use of phones during movies to order food and drinks from their online menu.
